Kia ora! Steve Holmes here! I have been working with youth for about 25 years both as a youth worker and in youth development management. My job includes ensuring that all of our programmes achieve the best outcomes for our rangatahi.
I love my job, and get great satisfaction in working in a team whose focus is to help young people realise their value and take steps towards reaching their amazing potential.
Some of my proudest accomplishments have included privilege of representing New Zealand on an international level with the Ship for World Youth and setting up a small charitable organisation taking teams of kiwis on short term humanitarian trips to third world countries.
When I was young, there were particular role models in my life who saw value in me and spent time and energy helping me to see that value. My superpower is helping others to see the value in themselves.
There is nothing greater than when young people that you once worked with come back and talk about the small things that made a significant difference in their lives.
